I got the idea from my grandma, because she used to knit hats like this for my cousins and I.So, I made the purple one first with leftover yarn my grandma had floating around and I think it turned out ok.
Then when we went shopping we stumbled across this gorgeous green yarn, which we decided to buy and I made a green hat for my boyfriend. (picture of him with hat will follow).

Did you use a pattern for these hats? My daughter has been asking for a "nightcap" (because a cartoon character has one) and I haven't found a pattern I like yet, but these are really close to what I am looking for. Great job!
